Check out our guide to the biggest summer holiday and make the most of this year’s long weekend with plenty of things to do in Binghamton.


  • Aug. 1 - Roberson Spirit Days! - Do you love museums? During these three days Roberson is offering free planetarium shows with admission. We encourage visitors to share their Roberson experiences, take pictures, and use #RobersonSpiritDays for a chance to win a free family membership.
  • Aug. 1 - Town of Vestal Community Picnic - Bring your family and friends to the annual Town Picnic which is open to the entire community. Activities include large inflatable rides, games, water slide, zoo mobile, edible art, face painting, shaving cream hair-do's, musical DJ. Delicious food: hamburgers, hot dogs, salad, pizza, ziti, soda, water, nachos, and ice cream are available for additional low prices.
  • Aug. 3- August First Friday Art Walk - Visit over 45 downtown locations including galleries, studios, restaurants and shops. Celebrate Binghamton's growing Art Community.
  • Aug. 3 - 5 - Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally - Hot-air balloons, arts, crafts, antique cars, live music and our local delicacy "Spiedies".
  • Aug. 3 - 5, 10, 11, 12, 17 - Phelps Mansion Museum Tours - The museum houses many paintings from many 19th century artists such as Edmund D. Lewis, M. Van Wyck and Harry Roseland. The museum itself is a work of art. Designed by Isaac G. Perry, the museum is open to the public for all to see one of the best examples of Victorian architecture.
  • Aug. 9 The Stage at Little Italy - Join us at the Northside Park for some great entertainment by Brooke Albright & Nick G. starting at 7pm.
  • Aug. 9, 11 - Disney’s “NEWSIES” - EPAC Kids Summer Workshop presents the hit Broadway musical “Newsies”, August 9th – 12th at the Endicott Performing Arts Center, located at 102 Washington Ave, Endicott, NY. Reserved Seating tickets will be available through the EPAC Box Office, www.endicottarts.com or by calling EPAC at 607-785-8903, or at the door. Tickets will be $15 for Adults and $12 for Seniors and children.
  • Aug. 10 - Unadilla Pro MX National - Get ready to “Do Dilla 2018” on August 10th-12th as the Lucas Oil Pro National MX weekendraces back into the Grandaddy of ‘Em All. It’s a full weekend of motocross action starting on Friday with the first motos for all amateur classes. SATURDAY, AUGUST 11th IS PRO DAY. All pro practice and timed qualifying takes place on Saturday. We round out the weekend on Sunday with the second motos for all amateur classes. Sky Shot, Gravity Cavity, the Wall…So many great viewing spots.
  • Aug. 10 - Summer Savoyards “The Pirates of Penzance” - Summer Savoyards present Gilbert and Sullivan’s popular comic operetta, populated by pirates, policemen, damsels in distress and “A Very Model of a Model Major General
  • Aug. 11 - 12 - Conservation Weekend (Pollinator Days) - Join us on our first Conservation Weekend as we highlight pollinators! Support the Binghamton Zoo's Global Conservation Fund by visiting the zoo, and a portion of ticket sales will be put into the fund to support conservation in the wild!
  • Aug. 11 - Sunset Runway 5K - The Sunset Runway 5k will start in the evening and will allow participants to run on the Runway Tarmac and see a spectacular view of the Sunset over Broome County's Valley. Race Timing, Music, refreshments and t-shirt included in the race experience. Food and refreshments will be available at event.Race distance and race timing will be done provided by an certified company and provided to all runners.
  • Aug. 14 - 60th Annual Ice Cream Social - Please join us for an evening with animals from Animal Adventure, face painting, juggling and ponies! Don't forget the amazing homemade cakes, ice cream from Huff's Ice cream, hot dogs and hamburgers....you'll have to come to see what else we have in store for our 60th!
  • Aug. 16 - Hello Girls - From New York to Paris, from ragtime to jazz - an ensemble of triple-threat actor-musicians chronicles the story of America's first women soldiers. These intrepid heroines courageously served as bi-lingual telephone operators on the front lines, helping turn the time of World War I. They return home to fight a decades-long battle for equality and recognition, paving the way for future generations.
  • Aug. 16 - An Evening of Wine & Roses at The Discovery Center - You are cordially invited to attend An Evening of Wine and Roses, a Garden Party celebrating our Story Garden on Thursday evening, August 16th from 6-8pm. Join us for a relaxing evening of wine tasting and light food fare as you enjoy our beautiful Story Garden. The event features local and Finger Lakes wineries, local microbrews, samplings from local restaurants and creameries and basket raffles.
  • Aug. 16, 27 - Shakespeare in the Park – Romeo & Juliet - This year the EPAC Youth Group will be presenting the classic Shakespeare play “Romeo and Juliet” in a Steam Punk style, for FREE as always, at the George W. Johnson Park in Endicott, NY. Followed by a full Shakespearean Festival in the Park for the community to enjoy!
  • Aug. 17 - Chrysalis: A live themed competitive story telling event series - Calling all Storytellers: Chrysalis, a live themed competitive storytelling event series, coming to the Bundy Museum of History and Art, April through August.

  • Aug. 22 - Feast with the Beasts - Tour the zoo like never before; tasting local cuisine, wines, and brews from over 25 New York and Pennsylvania businesses! In addition to the many food and drink samplings, there will also be a number of other activities such as live music by VooDoo Highway, animal spotlights, and our annual silent auction and basket raffle!
  • Aug. 24 - GUSTO! Italian Festival - Little Italy Endicott Presents: The 11th Annual GUSTO! Italian Festival August 24th, 25th & 26th *August 24th at 7:00pm Concert by: "A One Night Stand" on The Stage at Little Italy (Lawn chair recommended) *August 25th from 5:00pm- 9:00pm GUSTO! "A Taste of Little Italy" Neighborhood Block Party & Street Painting Festival Witherill St. Between Oak Hill Ave and Hill Ave. Music: 5:00-6:00- Nino Samiani 6:00-7:00- Ralph Muro 7:00-9:00- Los Vega Band Kids activities on Witherill St.
  • Aug. 25 - 15th Annual Multi-Ethnic Garlic Festival - The Garlic Festival is a longstanding tradition within the Binghamton community that brings in about 1,000 attendees each year. By celebrating garlic, a common ingredient shared by many ethnic dishes, we hope to raise awareness of the diversity of the area and build bridges of understanding across the many different cultures that reside here. It features an ethnic food court and entertainment including musical acts and ethnic dance ensembles.
  • Aug. 26 - Binghamton Porchfest 2018 - Binghamton Porchfest returns to the West Side for its fourth annual installment. A free celebration of community, music, and togetherness, Porchfest is the grassroots collaborative effort of hundreds of individual musicians and dozens of resident hosts of the West Side neighborhood of Binghamton (specifically the including and directly surrounding the historic Abel Bennett Tract) who get together on the last Sunday of every August to boogie down with their neighbors to the sounds of over 100 musical acts.
  • Aug. 31 - 51st Annual Johnson City Field Days - Thrilling rides, games, delicious foods, and live entertainment culminating with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza on Labor Day.

  • Sept. 2 - Rock and Roar Music Festival - Join us at the 3rd annual Rock and Roar Music Festival held at the Ross Park Amphitheater.
  • Sept. 7 - Saint Joseph’s Bazaar - Entertainment: Friday: "Splash" Saturday: "The Look" and "Messy Truth" Sunday: "Crossfire" Theme Baskets, Teen Alley, Luminaries, Children's Games, Casino Games, Pull-Tabs, Pizza Frite, Ethnic Foods, Ethnic Bake Sale, Raffles, and Dessert Booth.
  • Sept. 7 - Art of Binghamton - Art of Binghamton is a premiere gallery experience which showcases varying mediums of artwork from acrylic paintings to photography, all created by local artists. The artists, many of which were born and raised in this area, have displayed and sold their work both locally and nationally. Each piece is a unique representation of Binghamton's past, present, and future vision through the eyes of each artist, and their pride and love for their hometown are reflected in their work.
  • Sept. 8 - 20th Annual AIDS Ride for Life - The 20th Annual “AIDS Ride for Life” is the Southern Tier AIDS Program's largest fundraiser, attracting 400+ riders from the USA, Canada and other countries. This popular, well supported Ride around Cayuga Lake offers 102, 90, 69, 42, 25 or 14 mile route choices - delivering a life-changing experience to participants from all backgrounds and fitness levels.
  • Sept. 11 - Opera and Beer - TCO and BingPop’s Opera and Beer! event has been a huge, sold out hit for three years in a row! Join us at The Garage Taco Bar in the heart of downtown Binghamton for two show stopping performances, including a night of opera & musical theatre entertainment, a cold beer, AND an incomparable Diva!
  • Sept. 15 - Fall Festival at the Vestal Rail Trail - The Fall Festival at the Rail Trail returns for its second year! This event is presented by the Town of Vestal in conjunction with the Vestal Coal House. The festival starts with the Glitter and Glitz Run at 9am. Registration for the run is open at GlitterRun.itsyourrace.com. After the run, the festival begins at 10am! The festival is free and open to the public.
  • Sept. 15 - Historic Homes of Binghamton & Johnson City – Tours - The Preservation Association of the Southern Tier Presents: HISTORIC HOMES OF BINGHAMTON & JOHNSON CITY Saturday, Sept.ember 15, 2018 – 1:00 to 4:00PM Tour and see the interior architectural details of five historic homes in Binghamton and Johnson City. Each home represents a particular era in local history.
  • Sept. 16 - All Paws for a Cause Dog Walk for Breast Cancer Prevention - This event will have more than 45 vendors. PetSmart will be hosting our Dog contests held throughout the day, including Highest Jump, Best Howl or Bark, Biggest/Smallest Dog and Best Costume. Prizes will be awarded to winners. There will also be demonstrations by New York State K-9 Unit; and food by Rent A Chef and Raffles. All proceeds support ENCOREplus, a YWCA community-based outreach program that provides screening, education and advocacy services to women.
  • Sept. 18 - Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band - The 2018 All Starr Band includes Colin Hay ("Who Can It be Now", "Land Down Under"), Steve Lukather ("Africa", "Hold The Line", "Roseanna"), Gregg Rolie ("Black Magic Woman", "Evil Ways") and new member Graham Gouldman of 10cc ("I’m Not In Love", "Things We Do For Love"). On percussion and sax is Warren Ham and on drums Gregg Bissonette. Every Ringo and His All Starr Band show features classic hit after hit, with each band member bringing to the set their most popular songs.
  • Sept. 19 - 9th Annual Fresh Food Face Off - Join us on Wednesday, Sept.ember 19 as we host our 9th Annual Fresh Food Face Off! Chefs create fabulous dishes using local ingredients and locally grown products with local dignitaries serve as culinary judges. Guests get to vote for their favorite dish as well! Don't forget about the tastings from local wineries, breweries, and more!
  • Sept. 20 - Cocktails with Creatives - Cocktails with Creatives Come network, talk shop, collaborate with like minds in a relaxed, low-key atmosphere. Creatives of all genres welcome! Grab your favorite evening beverage and join the conversation.
  • Sept. 22 - College Discount Weekend - Take a break from studying and come to the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park! All college students with valid ID will receive half priced admission ($3.50) on College Discount Weekend!
  • Sept. 22 - Binghamton Wingfest 2018 - Celebrating our 7th Year of Wing Awesomeness! AS WE ENTER INTO OUR 7TH YEAR, Binghamton Wingfest has grown by leaps and bounds. In 2016, we moved to our most recent festival location, NYSEG Stadium, drawing over 4000 guests. Over the last 6 years, the festival has drawn more than 17,000 people and served nearly a quarter of a million chicken wings. The festival, which also supports local charities, has donated thousands of dollars since it's inception.
  • Sept. 28 - Disney Junior Dance Party On Tour!
  • Sept. 29 - Ales & Tales - This craft beer and cider based event will highlight some of the best offerings of the season, while allowing our guests to enjoy the park, our animals, and food vendors in the beauty of the surrounding fall foliage.   • Sept. 29 - Scheherazade - This Opening Night, join us for a lush re-telling of the classic saga, One Thousand and One Nights! Considered Rimsky-Korsakov’s signature piece, Scheherazade will take you to far-away lands in four fanciful movements.
